Reem Nazir was born in Saudi Arabia’s historic Red Sea port of Jeddah. Largely self-taught, she has benefited from tutelage under Freddie Deane (a past president of the Chelsea Art Club in London) and more recently, guidance from portrait and figurative artist Aris Raissis.
Reem’s work is derived chiefly from her roots and upbringing in the Middle East. She manages to portray in either oil or acrylic paint the local customs and environment. Her particular attention to colour and weight of mark introduces a fresh and unique outlook to painting as a whole. With the use of bold strokes and flat vibrant colour, Reem manages to create a unique energy and vibrancy in her compositions.
Reem Nazir’s work has been exhibited in the following cities: Jeddah, Riyadh, London, Buenos Aires, Moscow and Santa Fe. As a result, her works grace several royal, private and commercial collections internationally.
